LAD- Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine in 1823 was issued by James Monroe. It was written in order to proclaim the United States opinion that the European powers should no longer colonize the Americas. In return the United States planned to stay neutral in wars between European powers. After stating that European countries couldn’t colonize in the Americas he went on to enforce Washington’s advice given through his Neutrality Act. Thirdly Monroe states that colonizing the Americas would be a threat to the United states national security, meaning that war with any European country might be a possibly.
