Farewell Address
George Washington made his decision to step down in the best interest of the country and it does not compromise his patriotic sense of being. He warns the Americans about political parties saying that the nation as a whole should focus on what unifies them rather then what separates them. Their main focus should be preserving the country as a whole. As the two parties disagreed it would split that nation and end horribly. Washington also warned the people about entering foreign engagements, especially with Britain and France. By not favoring one side, Washington urged that America wouldn’t be dragged down with either. Washington then urged the country as a whole to withstand with good morals with everything that is produced so that the United States will survive on what the country had its foundations made out of.
